Question of the (fri)Day

On my way to the outer banks of North Carolina for a family vacation I saw this billboard.

It brought up a question…

Does shock and awe marketing work?

Or

Have we become so inundated by shock and awe marketing that it simply hits us and bounces off?

What are your thoughts?

Do you use shock and awe marketing?

  1. Marketing (shock and awe or otherwise) is generally considered more costly than PR. Like you point out; with the audacity of much of the marketing out now the cost soon eclipses any sort of ROI (both fincially and spiritually). It used to be a church would say “this isn’t your parents church” and would gain a lot of attention, now churches are doing “sex challenge” series to draw people in…oh Ed Young JR how I loath thee
