Question of the (Fri)day :: What is campus ministry about?

The University campus is a “very complicated world, a very noisy world”.

It’s difficult to turn the head of a college student. It’s tough to get their attention. It’s tough to get someone to notice your ministry.

“So, we have to be really clear on what we want them to know about us.”

What are you about? How do you fit in this world of the University campus? What is your ministry about? What is your core value? What is your heart beat?

We might do a lot of things well but I think Steve Jobs hit it on the head…it’s not about the ministry we can produce…it’s about the people…

So, I would say that as campus ministers our core value has to be this…

We believe in college students!

  1. I get what you’re saying. We can certainly lose focus at times. Yes, it’s possible to lose sight of students in college ministry! However, I’m not comfortable with the terminology. “Passionate about reaching/transforming/ministering to/equipping/empowering/ college students”–that I’m on board with. I like to save “believe in” for the hope that does not disappoint, namely, Jesus. Sorry to be particular, but as we know in ministry, words matter.
